About

Hi, I'm Marcia.

For 40+ years I've worked at the intersection of brand, story, and visual design — first inside major media, music, and broadcast, then as a senior creative for one of the country's leading culturally-rooted publishers, and today running my own studio.

I graduated from Winthrop University in 1985 with a BS in Communications and a Business Administration minor, and started my career at WWWZ Radio in Charleston as Girl Friday and later Interim Traffic Manager — learning the rhythms of a working radio station from the inside out.

From there I moved to Los Angeles. I joined Lorimar Telepictures as Coordinator of International Marketing for TV Syndication, working with the Hollywood Foreign Press on talent shoots, international trade ads, and press kits for shows distributed worldwide. I then joined The Walt Disney Company in Burbank as Marketing Coordinator, designing internal corporate communications for senior leadership.

In 1992 I moved into music, spending five years inside BMG — first at Zoo Entertainment and then at The Windham Hill Group (Windham Hill Records, Windham Hill Jazz, Private Music, High Street, and Dancing Cat). I managed manufacturing, packaging, and POP materials for over 150 releases a year and acted as production liaison between BMG, Columbia House, and BMG Direct.

In 1997 I joined Shades of Color in Los Angeles, where I spent 23 years as Director of Product Development and Lead Designer. I conceptualized and designed the annual Black History Calendar Series, the Phenomenal series, and the Obama Years collector's editions. I launched the company's holiday card line, built and ran the e-commerce site, and partnered weekly with our production team in China. In 2020 I returned to formal study at CalArts to deepen my graphic design specialization.

That same year I joined Crumbsnatchers Marketing in Charlotte as Marketing Manager and Graphic Designer, leading creative for Mecklenburg County Public Health and other community-focused clients across OOH, billboards, radio, digital, and grassroots tactics.

Today I run Noisette Ink — a small studio working with publishers, nonprofits, public health departments, and small businesses that need senior-level design without an agency price tag.

What I bring: clarity, cultural fluency, and the kind of judgment that only comes from doing this for a long time.
